Add Captions to ScreenPal
Closed Captions can be added to a ScreenPal video after it's been recorded using the editor. The steps below will walk you through adding captions and turning them on by default when embedded in Canvas. ScreenPal also has a video walkthrough on Adding Captions.
Open the video in the ScreenPal editor and click on the Captions option on the right.
2. Title the captions (the default is English) and choose an option to start with. "Captions from File" allows you to load captions from a script, "Speech to text" automatically transcribes the audio into captions, and "Blank Captions" adds a caption track you can manually fill in. Once you have selected the option you want, click "start"
3. The box on the right shows the captions and timings. The highlighted text shows the amount of text that can be shown on screen at one time. Move the "sync point" on the timeline below and press enter to create a new caption or break up an existing one. When you're finished, click OK at the bottom.
4. Once you've added captions, the CC button on the bottom should be blue, which indicates that captions are available. Save the video to add the captions track to the final video.
5. When viewing the finished video, click the captions button in the bottom bar to turn the captions on or off.
6. If you are embedding a captioned video in Canvas, you can choose to turn captions on by default in the embed preview.
